La Bonbonniere is a cozy nook in the West Village where patrons can expect a hearty meal with a slim price tag. From savory sandwiches to healthful salads, this retro luncheonette has something for every person on any budget.

Looks can be deceiving, as is true of La Bonbonniere, a small luncheonette in the West Village. At first glance, the place is easy to miss, but after dining here just once you won’t make that mistake again. The vintage-inspired décor and celebrity-adorned walls add to the retro atmosphere of this small, old-fashioned diner. The grill is right behind the counter so that customers are able to see and smell their meal cooking in front of them. And this place is a hot spot not only for its grill, but also for the great food cooked on it, all offered at a reasonable price.

The menu features options that will fill your stomach without emptying your wallet. There is a mouthwatering selection of breakfast dishes including omelets and La Bonbonniere’s renowned French toast. And if you’re not in the mood for breakfast, there is an abundance of other choices available, including a variety of sandwiches, burgers, and hot dishes such as rib steak and grilled chicken breast. For the health conscious, there are also a number of salads available. Make sure you try one of their delicious shakes or homemade muffins to go along with your main course.

The staff here are friendly and accommodating, and during my visit, one of the members was kind of enough to make me a custom chocolate banana shake even though it wasn’t one of the menu options. This kind of personalized attention is one of the many reasons to visit this cozy little nook, where the relaxed and amiable atmosphere perfectly complements the great food.
