If you’re not a comic book lover, a visit to Rocketship might turn you into one. The Cobble Hill shop is a gallery for the art of comic books (literally-the store shows original artwork from comic books on the walls, changing the show theme every two months) and a fun place to peruse the latest comics until you find the one for you.
Comic books make truly thoughtful gifts that won’t break your bank, and if Rocketship doesn’t have what you’re looking for in-stock, they will order it for you. Rocketship carries just about every kind of contemporary comic, compilations, Magna (Japanese novel form), novels and trade paperbacks. They even have complete volumes of comics, so a child can read that vintage Superman without worrying about getting fingerprints on a rare copy. Rocketship’s events-usually corresponding to the current gallery show-earned the store a nomination as an Eisner Award finalist for events and community participation at the 2008 Comic-Con in San Diego. Check out the events calendar at www.RocketshipStore.BlogSpot.Com.
Rocketship is wheelchair accessible, stocking new arrivals on low tables.
