“Secondhand Shopping In New York City"

The shopping tour with Suzanne was wonderful! At the beginning we have to emphasize the great communication with her. We communicated via e-mail as well as via WhatsApp. When we met Suzanne, there was immediately a pleasant, friendly atmosphere. She led us to a street with great vintage shops that we probably would never have found without her. Suzanne had a great eye for fancy, special clothes and high quality fabrics in the shops. She was there for us during the whole tour, answered our questions and told exciting stories about New York City. An all around successful tour, I can recommend it to everybody!  Many thanks, Suzanne :-)

“Transformed my "athleisure-wearing" niece into a stylin' lady"

We enjoyed our shop til you drop outing with Suzanne. My millennial niece works for an athleisure company which lends itself to very casual attire. She picked up several dressier pieces that made it out on the NYC nightlife scene that evening! Thank-you Suzanne for a fun afternoon.

“Something different, special, very fun for curious shoppers!"

I recently spent four days in NYC with a large, multi-generational group of family members. In the mix of typical NYC activities for visitors, this tour stood out as a memorable, something different/something special experience for two of the college-aged girls, one an experienced vintage shopper and the other a novice. They both found and purchased things that they have since received many compliments on. I expected the tour to be enjoyable for me but not really "my thing," but the experience really opened my eyes: I found it very interesting and fun, much more so than shopping all the usual stores, all the usual merchandise. Our tour group included an NYC resident, who I envy because she can go back to these places any time!

Suzanne's tour was well-planned, stopping at a variety of thrift/vintage shops (who knew there was so much variety in thrift shops?) in an easily walkable area. When we mentioned we hadn't had breakfast, Suzanne pointed out Tal Bagels, where we had a great bagel with the loxiest of lox spreads. Heaven. (We caught up with the group at the next shop.)
We also appreciated the "insider's list" Suzanne gave us of additional unique and interesting shops in the city, as well as a list, map, and description of her favorite places to go for certain foods/food experiences in the city.

“$30 Chanel camisole!"

Suzanne was a fantastic guide! She showed me some really great vintage shops and I found so many great finds. A shearling military liner coat, Chanel camisole ($30), 80's cashmere shirt dress, cashmere sweater ($18), 70's track suit, 60's peacock dress. She even suggests trying new styles you might not pick for yourself - and you are so pleasantly surprised. Her vintage seeking skills allowed me to find 8 quality, stylish vintage pieces in just a few hours - like a vintage heat seeking missile Suzanne gets you where you need to be. Her guides and advice are super too. Thanks Suzanne!

“Awesome, personalized experience!"

Suzanne specializes in true vintage but was happy to accommodate me as a teen with a smaller budget looking for some cool thrift finds. She happily spent the afternoon showing me around and I found tons of great pieces within my budget, and got to know a lot more about the city that I wouldn’t have gotten out of any guide book! In addition she left me with a list of other places I could go to as well as all the info for the ones we went to. She’s friendly, knowledgeable, and good at her job! 10/10 would recommend!

“Highly Recommend"

Suzanne was amazing. She communicated often two days before the tour, so the details on where to meet was easy to follow. Within ten minutes of talking with her, it was clear that she knew her stuff. More importantly, she listened to us and customized the tour based on what we were interested in. Suzanne was also honest about what looked good and what didn't. Result: fab vintage jewelry, Italian boots and vintage handbag, and a amazing dress from St. John!

This was part of a birthday trip for my niece, so Suzanne made sure she got the diva treatment. Our last stop was right up her alley. I much appreciated the personal attention.

Would definitely go with Suzanne again next time we need an insider's guide to the city.

“She found a place that had $28 Jimmy Choo shoes!!!!!"

My boyfriend and I had so much fun with her. She showed us all of these different places that I would never have noticed before and that had really interesting finds. She made the trip enjoyable not only with the places she took us to, but also with fun conversation :). I highly recommend a trip with her. She is an actual New Yorker who can really show you those hidden gems in the city. And... for those of you who are wondering about the $28 Jimmy Choo shoes in the title (I know I would be if I were reading this review)... unfortunately they did not fit me :(. But... it will fit some other incredibly lucky person... and it might just be you lol

“Absolutely The Best Vintage Shopping Day In New York City!"

Suzanne is a real New Yorker and knows a lot about the city. I took two of her shopping days while in town: one vintage shopping day in Chelsea and the other vintage in Williamsburg. Because I liked the first one so much I took a second shopping day with her and was happy I did. I picked up a beautiful plate as a gift for my friend and a gorgeous coat for myself. There were a lot of other beautiful things that I wanted but couldn't fit into my suitcase. Take her shopping days at the beginning of your vacation! She'll save you time and money!

I liked the fact that her groups are small and intimate and she knows the shops that tourists would never would never find! Not only second-hand and vintage but she knows about food and specialty boutiques as well. The atmosphere of the shops we visited were really great, friendly, well organized and had cool music. Suzanne is very patient, answered my questions about shopping and gave me a lot tips to go around on my own.

When I come back To New York I'll be sure to join another one of her shopping days and also visit her website to find more things to do on my own. She's the best!!

Best I've taken in NYC!! Hanging out with Suzanne, scouring the best of vintage and thrift stores, and coming away with some real deals was such a great experience. “Great thrifting day with ZTrend!”

Suzanne knows her stuff, we had a great time on the Gramercy Thrift & Vintage. Lots of fantastic items were found. We were taken to some hidden gems, bursting with clothes, shoes cool vintage homewares and books. Met some lovely people on the shopping day and it was so fun to share our finds with each other after each stop. Ended up joining two of the ladies for lunch and another outing afterwards! Would recommend for lovers of fashion and/or vintage, you can get some great designer items in the stores if thats your thing or if you like the vintage look you'll also be spoiled for choice! I've visited NYC a bunch of times, but never found the shops we were taken to, so it was well worth it for me. Thanks heaps for a fun tour!

“Vintage and thrift Chelsea and West Village”

Our on line reservation through Freetoursbyfoot.com led us to Suzanne, a hip "professional" shopper, who knows her merchandise and where to find good buys in NYC vintage, thrift and consignment shops. We hit several shops in three hours, many of them raising support for worthy causes by recycling clothing, jewelry, furniture and more. Great deals to be found while helping out others with a charismatic guide! Great fun and a win-win~

I really enjoyed the Gramercy Vintage Tour.  Suzanne was the perfect host!  Personable, engaging and knowledgeable.  As a Thrift/Vintage/Consignment Shopper for over 40 years I was anxious to get back to NYC to see what was still available.  It was wonderful to be in such good hands. “ Delightful antique jewellery to bargain basement clothing!”

"The ZTrend Chelsea shopping tour was a fantastic way to be introduced to some funky, charming and "hidden" vintage and thrift stores in a buzzing part of Manhattan.  From delightful antique jewellery to bargain basement clothing to retro Christmas decorations, Suzanne's thoughtful and well planned afternoon was a treat and thoroughly enjoyable.  The small group made it fun and personal, with everyone finding something to their tastes! There is plenty of time in each store for independent browsing and Suzanne is always on hand to offer styling and "insider" tips! I recommend this experience to anyone who loves shopping for stylish vintage/thrift wares, or who wants to learn how to get the most bang for your buck (and some great styling tips) from the talented and passionate Suzanne!"

My friend and I went on this shopping tour of upscale thrift shops and it was very interesting. We were taken to some very nice shops. “Not your average tourist walking tour!”

If like me you'd like something more interesting than a standard Empire State/Statue of Liberty walking tour whilst in NYC, then give this a go! Suzanne- who is as fun and quirky an individual as you'd expect- took us to thrift and vintage shops I would never have found on my own. I particularly enjoyed feeling like I was seeing an insiders view of New York, as the places were packed with locals. Highly recommended.

“Thrift Store Conssieur”

I booked the Gramercy tour for Sept. 8th 2016. My husband and I are avid thrift store shoppers in Houston Texas. Loved the tour, my favorite was Vintage Thrift East. The store was full of vintage items. I could have stayed in this store all day. I will be going back. Suzanne was great. A must for this tour is a pair of good walking shoes, one bottle of water and or snacks. I forgot to take pictures, this is a must.

“Highly Recomend!!!”

I booked Suzanne's free walking tour of Gramercy Park thrift stores and had an amazing time! Suzanne is extremely knowledgeable about the area's thrift stores and the different causes each store supports. These thrift stores were all absolutely full of amazing finds, and not a single one felt like you had to pick through a bunch of junk. Suzanne even helped find things for me, covering areas of each store and asking me if I was interested in a few items. She was wonderful, and so was the tour. I would definitely recommend.

“Gramercy Thrift & Vintage Shopping Day”

The ZTrend Thrift Shop Tour is something you do not want to miss out on! Whether you are an avid thrift shopper or are just getting into it, Suzanne can teach you a lot about the scene here in New York. I just moved to the Manhattan area and used this tour to get an idea about the shops around the East Village area.

We went to about 4 or 5 stores and were able to spend 15-20 minutes in each. This was ample time to get a feel of the area and see what special items the stores held! I was just about to start my first week of dental school and I went on the tour with the intention to get some professional clothing. Not to my surprise I was able to find exactly what I was looking for and more!

I would recommend this tour to people that want to get to know the area, are interested in finding great items for cheap and discounted prices, or just want something to do with your friends on a day out in the city!

“Suzanne is smashing and I loved the tour, and what I bought!”

I would thoroughly recommend taking advantage of Suzanne's knowledge and enthusiasm for the vintage/second hand market in NYC. I sent my areas of particular interest in plus size clothing in advance and she directed me appropriately on the day. I came home with a sample dress, a great jacket I get complimented on every time I wear it, and another cute dress I love.

Suzanne also took the time to give me further recommendations to pursue after the tour. She has a positive, inclusive manner and I really enjoyed the morning. Thanks Suzanne!

“Nice tour in East village”

We took the thrift shop and boutiques in east village tour and had a very pleasant time with a good mixture of thrift shops and nice little boutiques with very individual clothing and shoes. I went home with more than one new piece, happy like a little child. Besides the good choice of shops, I liked that the tour guide managed to show several shops next to each other which allows for every person of a group to choose for its own preferences. “Absolutely fabulous NYC shopping tour!”

I recently signed up for a private shopping tour of NYC vintage shops with Suzanne of Ztrend Shopping Tours, and I have to say it was absolutely delightful! I scheduled a tour with a fellow vintage addict friend of mine, its best to shop in pairs, and we found some great deals at the stores she took us to! My friend picked up some beautiful vintage hats & bags for her summer wardrobe and I found a few beautiful dresses reasonably priced and a couple vintage necklaces that I could not live without. I live in NYC but never have the time to check out random places on my days off so this was a perfect way to spend the afternoon and she (Suzanne) also had great recommendations for places to stop along the way for a spot of coffee and dessert!

If you are a local or a visitor to this great city, there are many amazing places to shop but this "edited" tour maximized our shopping time & experience and I would certainly recommend this to friends visiting the city, especially while I am at work during the day, a def must!

“Fun Shopping Morning in Gramercy Park Neighborhood”

What a great way to get to know a NYC neighborhood....plus the opportunity to shop for bargains as well. After an explanation of each shop, Suzanne gave us twenty minutes to shop. I was with my friend who is a big shopper. I was not going to buy a thing! Well, guess who made purchases? ME. I found two blouses that were perfect for me, a lovely scarf, and a very fashionable handbag. Bargain prices....fine quality. “nice variety of shops”

I did the thrift walking tour with Suzanne. I didn't really know what to expect but she far exceeded any expectations. She took us to 4 or 5 stores (I lost track) and I found some real gems. She also helped at various stores, pulling things that she thought might be of interest to the people on the tour.

Suzanne was great...she was organized for us, explained the pros and cons of each shop we visited before we went in, gave us a time limit and even reminded us five minutes before we had to leave so we could "finish our purchases".

I did the thrift walking tour with Suzanne. I didn't really know what to expect but she far exceeded any expectations. She took us to 4 or 5 stores (I lost track) and I found some real gems. Now I know vaguely where the good stores are I would be able to go and have a look on my own, but I wouldn't have known where to start without Suzanne. She also gave us some recommendations for us to find on our own if we wanted to continue shopping after the tour. “Great tour”

Having been to New York several times, it was fun to take part in the Walking Tours which covered something different from the usual sights. Suzanne took us on the Thrift Shopping tour which involved visiting 5 or 6 different styles of charity shops from the Salvation Army store through to a designer store that selects the product that makes it to the shop floor i.e. just the good stuff, as you'd expect in New York it was easy to find designer labels such as Chanel, Dior, Armani, at rock bottom prices. I got a lovely as new coat for $25 that would have been $350 new. Suzanne will give you the low down before you go into each store and tell you what you can expect to find and will even hunt out beautiful items for you. Great experience and well worth doing.

I went on the East Village Shoppingtour with Suzanne. It was a great afternoon with a lot of new shopping experiences. We had time to spent in different shops and Suzanne gave us good Insidertips. There were some Designerstores, Vintageshops and Outlets. So you can find clothes from all prices.

“Ztrend shopping”

I went on 2 shopping tours with Suzanne (Gramercy thrift shopping and East Village boutiques) and both were great fun! Not only does Suzanne take you to great shops, she also gives you the skinny on the neighborhood, the shop owners and designers. A real NYC experience!

“Fantastic vintage shopping”

We met in a lovely American diner had a coffee was also authentic was a great introduction we were just on our own so it was a private tour . We loved the shop and we loved the local tour from Susanne and the squirrels in the park were just fabulous . I bought a fantastic jacket and matching gloves and some fantastic old jelly moulds for a keen cook in Australia . we finished the day with a great lunch at a local Italian that I would never have found with a great white wine so in conclusion meet a stranger in NY shop and make friends and finish with a chilled glass of good wine loved it will do it again

“East Village Shopping Tour”

I love browsing thrift shops and discovering unique boutiques. Suzanne's East Village Shopping Tour was a delightful time doing both. Suzanne was a great tour guide - professional, very friendly and knowledgeable. She not only showed us the shops, but gave us inside tips as to what to expect in each one. I was especially pleased that she took a personal interest in what we were considering and gave us helpful tips. She also made an effort to look for and suggest items that she thought might fit our interests and fashion styles. Since I was shopping alone, these gestures were very much appreciated. I'm looking forward to trying her other tours the next time I visit New York.

“Highly recommend a shopping trip with Suzanne!”

My thrift shopping adventure with Suzanne has been one of the best parts of my trip to NYC. I couldn't believe the vintage treasures we found! Suzanne knew all the best places and tips and tricks to find unique, quality pieces. Amazing knowledge and skill! Thank you so much Suzanne! I'd highly recommend joining in on one of her tours.

Suzanne, the owner of ZTrend is awesome!!

My partner and I love SoHo, and wanted to spend a day "discovering" shops and eateries that we might miss on our own. After a pre-trip conversation with Suzanne, where she gained insights into our interests, she planned out and curated a perfect day. We wanted to focus on unique mens' clothing shops, home accessory shops, and anything related to chocolate candy, Suzanne met us for our day, shared our planned stops, and we were off the races. Amazing! I'm in NY frequently on business; a bit less frequently for fun visits, so exploring new places is always fun - "living like a local." Suzanne took us to some of the most unique shops (at any price point you want), places to food tasting, and some of the best chocolate shops we've visited in NY. Her attention to detail and planning and hospitality - both before your tour and during the tour itself - are amazing. If you like to explore as a couple, a family, or with a small group of friends, stay off the Greyhound Sightseeing busses and spend an afternoon or longer with Suzanne and ZTrend.

We just got back from a private tour with Suzanne around Nolita and Soho. It was definitely the highlight of our trip !
Suzanne planned the tour so it would fit my 16 year old daughter's expectations along with mine and brought us to really special shops along with delicious short stops for coffee , cupcakes and Devine chocolate.
I bought really beautiful items and enjoyed the details and info that Suzanne added about every shop  and artist/designer . The price zones etc were more or less according to our budget .
Highly recommended tour - looking forward to our next visit and tour!!!

The East Village Thrift/Vintage tour was a fabulous, unique experience.  Shopping is better when combined with a knowledgable guide like Sharri.  She seems to have relationships with all the shop owners, who were also very helpful and courteous.  Be prepared to visit a large number of shops to get a feel for the ones you'd like to revisit.  Several of the shops even had new, fair-trade clothing available.  It was an amazing day for someone looking for unique pieces.

Sherry was wonderful, and met our group beforehand to get a sense of what we were looking for on our June 4 trip into the East Village. Her thorough knowledge of the stores, their inventory and the owners allowed for our afternoon to be tailored to our needs. We found some great buys, and ended the afternoon with a number of suggestions for shopping outside of our tour area. It was wonderful to spend some time with you, Sherri. Thank you so very much, hope to see you on another shopping adventure soon!

My mum and I were newcomers to NYC and we couldn't have had a better guide than Sherry to take us to the more hidden jewels of the SOHO shopping scene. Not only did we receive a well curated and insightful commentary of the boutiques, cafes and perfumeries that we frequented but we were given a glimpse of the historical evolution of retail in the area that allowed us to understand NYC and its colourful denizens better than we could have hoped by ourselves in the short period of time we had available.

Sherry is a bona fide NYC resident who has a great rapport with the small business owners of the area and a wealth of knowledge on the burgeoning international and local designers in the area. I appreciated the fact that i was getting genuine, authentic quality products with a narrative of its very own as it makes it all the more meaningful when i wear/use it.

My mum is not a shopper and she shopped! <applause>

Request Sherry if you would like a guide who is well informed, honest (she lets us know if the garment does not fit), attentive (she is all ears about where you'd like to go) and most of  all...fun.

Many thanks!

The tour was very worthwhile. Our guide was a wonderful! She inquired as to what we were interested in and provided a background regarding things to be aware of in Vintage/Thrift shops. Furthermore, Sherry was attentive to us in the shops in case we had any questions or to show us something. I especially appreciated the mapped listing of more Vintage shops on the Lower East Side she emailed the following day.

I arrived 30 min earlier at the beautiful Cafe were we met so I had breakfast, it was delicious. Then Sherie came in and, while waiting for my wife, we talked about what exactly we were going to. Once she got there, Sherie took us to different small boutiques full of original products, most of them made by independent designers, she always told us about the history and many interesting facts about the stores in our way. I even got a pair of nice boots fashioned by a Canadian designer.

It was one of the greatest experiences in my trip to NY; I had the chance to know more about the extraordinary Nolita and Soho neighborhoods that couldn’t have been possible without the advice and guidance of Sherie. I highly recommend this tour to the people that are not interested in just shopping the kind of stuff that you find at Macy’s.

We surely shopped with the best! Sherry took us up and down the streets of SoHo & NoLita in the true Christmas spirit between jingle and merry! Stopping in trendy, elegant and edible boutiques made our season sparkle. Her energy, knowledge and sincere praise for designers, artists and vendors prove real like New York map grids from A to Z!

My sister Myra and I really enjoyed your NoLIta and Soho shopping tour on November 2nd. Even though I am a native New Yorker this is an area I am really not familiar with. I was given an overview of the area and of the stores and art markets around. Our guide knew the area and gave us an inkling of the stores before we went in. I like that we saw a variety of different types of boutiques and took our needs into account. I would definitely recommend this shopping tour to people.

My ZTrend shopping tour was fantastic. I met Sherry in the morning, and despite being the only person scheduled on the tour, it still ran! On the fly, she had tailored the a perfect shopping to my requests and as we bounced from boutique to boutique, it was evident that Sherry knew shopping. The day was the ultimate shopping experience, with a stop for delicious cupcakes made using fresh dairy (hormone and antibiotic free) from upstate New York. At the end of the day, I had several quality purchases and Sherry even included a list of other boutiques that might be of interest to me.

I had the great pleasure of a private afternoon of focused shopping with Sherry. She is very knowledgable about finding original and unique items that you would think of when reflecting on New York Style. She is a, personal shopper, stylist and sees the beauty in everything. Very enjoyable and memorable afternoon!

This could be ideal for a bridal shower or a nice time with girlfriend while soaking in the small boutiques of the city.

Sherry made me feel at ease from the moment we met and conveyed such enthusiasm for the tour ahead. Her experience and expertise with the best boutiques in the Nolita and the surrounding districts meant that she was able to tailor the shopping day to my needs, as well as be able to suggest some of her favourite stores. My timing and financial constraints were also taken into consideration, and we discussed that the purpose of the trip would most likely be one where I'd become educated about the types of stores available in the area and then return on a later date at my own leisurely pace. As such, the tour felt both prepared as well as flexible.

Each store we went to, Sherry made sure to provide an overview of the types of items available, pricing and what the shop assistants were like. She also made sure to grab a business card from each store and mark the number on the map so I would be able to locate it should I wish to return. Her passion for fashion and the best high-end boutiques was loud and clear through how she descibes the clothes and businesses. The fact the originally planned 3 hour shopping day turned into a 6 hour saunter was testament to this! It was also clear Sherry had built a great rapport with so many of the store owners, which is testament to how long and how effectively she has been in this business. You will soon discover that the service ZTrend provides is one that is far superior to its competitors.

I found the shopping day successful (as I walked away with the most gorgeous fedora hat I will treasure for quite a while!) and most importantly enjoyable - Sherry's knowledge and upbeat attitude meant that the day was laden with witty personal anecdotes. I had such a delightful day and felt I learned so much more about the NoLIta shopping district in New York, and I'm confident YOU will too! Thanks Sherry!

I had such a great time with Sherry shopping! She is so passionate about shopping, quality pieces and the different styles these great designers have to offer. Sherry quickly determined exactly what my style is and knew where to take me. She went above and beyond my expectations because not only did we go to clothing stores but gift shops, chocolatiers and she pointed out great places to eat. Her knowledge of Manhattan is fabulous! I felt so comfortable like I'd know her a long time because Sherry is so easy to talk to. I would highly recommend ZTrend for the serious shoppers and those who want to absorb the culture and atmosphere of NYC.

The Guided Shopping day was awesome! My 3 au pair friends and I met Sherie at the Cafe and then the shopping tour started. All the shops were very unique! I live in Connecticut since one year but I haven't really payed attention to SoHo and Little Italy so this was perfect. I wouldn't have gone to all that nice little shops if Sherie wouldn't have shown us where to shop and where are the best sales. My favorite shops were the jammies shop and the really good smelling French perfume shop. Also the last store, a chocolate shop, was delicious! I never have had noticed that shops at all if I wouldn't have been on that shopping day! Thank you so much!

Sherry is an extraordinary shopping guide. I met my 21 year old niece in NYC for a weekend and wanted to give her a unique and different experience. Sherry nailed it. As a 50 year old retired military guy, I didn't have a clue. As a 21 year old florida girl, my niece had never been to the "big city". We met Sherry at a small cafe in SoHo and the rest of the afternoon was a blast. We were made to feel very comfortable and never pressured to buy a thing. It was like daughter and aunt out for an afternoon of window shopping and I was along for the walk. Even so Sherry was enjoyable company for me as well. Sherry educated us in fashion, boutique shopping and lower manhatten in general. The time with Sherry was well spent, Much more enjoyable than the crowds in Times Square. As a success coach, I encouraged her to diversify her market. What a great way for a bridal party to spend an afternoon before hitting the town. Convetion goers get away from times square and enjoy an afternoon with Sherry. Outstanding!

Why was our shopping Tour to the Lower East Village so fabulous? We had one week in New York and we planned to see and do as much as possible. Our tour was tailored to my daughter's specific style and our budget. Clothing for my daughter was a high priority on the list because we are from Mississippi, and we live in a very rural area where unique clothing is difficult to find. Our tour guide assessed my daughter's fashion style, her clothing interest, and monetary budget, and instantly came up with a neighborhood and a plan of stores she couldn't wait to show us. She explained the shops we would visit, the type of clothing we would likely find, and the area we would be visiting. We were guided to a vast array of clothing stores. We started out in a small owner operated business where hand sewn blouses and tailored lined skirts in vibrant colors with complimentary colored linings covered the walls; where the owners find what you're interested in and then bring you various articles and appropriate sizes to try on so that you do not have to spend time looking, all the while carrying on a free flowing conversation with each of us. The clothing was inexpensive and beautiful. As we continued on our walking tours we went to consignment stores where our tour guide would help hand pick articles of clothing for my daughter. Her sense of my daughter's style was spot-on. She was also able to tell us when something was just too expensive and could be found elsewhere for less. We spent four fabulous hours, and found an entire wardrobe for my daughter. Yes, this was a shopping tour, but we got so much more. As we walked around the Lower East Village, our guide pointed-out and gave us a well versed history of the area. At the beginning of our trip our guide gave us a beautiful hand made business card holder and at each store we visited she asked for a business card and gave one to my daughter to keep so when we visit New York in the future we will know where to go. Our guide was funny, smart, knowledgeable, had a great fashion sense, and excellent report with my seventeen year old and myself. It is one of the best things we did in New York; and we did a lot.

I visited New York from Berkeley, California in the beginning of June to blog about vintage and consignment shops in the city.  My blog is called Toni’s Vintage Trips and you can find it at tonisvintagetrips.blogspot.com.  I had an agenda before I arrived, but the ZTrend vintage shopping tour was a delightful surprise.  My sister and I met Sherry at a very cute cupcake shop/café in SoHo and spent the first 45 minutes or so planning out our shopping adventure and getting to know each other over wonderful coffee and pastery.  Then we headed through the teeming shopping district to our first stop, Allan & Suzi home of retro and modern fashion (237 Center St., New York, NY, www.allanandsuzi.net).  Since it was morning and the store was just opening, we had a chance to chat with Allan who is a most interesting person.  His store was large and full of vintage and modern clothing on the outrageous level, including a hand-painted wedding dress hanging from the ceiling.

After our visit to Allan & Suzi, we stopped by Amarcord Vintage Fashion (252 Lafayette St., between Price & Spring, New York, NY, amarcordvintagefashion.com).  The sales rep behind the counter used to work at Labels in Walnut Creek, so I had a Bay Area connection with this store.  Traveling down Prince Street, we stopped in at Ina (21 Prince St., New York, NY, www.inanyc.com), a small boutique with some beautiful designer clothes and shoes.  It was too expensive for me, but I enjoyed photographing individual items.  Next stop was Housing Works (130 Crosby St., New York, NY) a vintage clothes and thrift shop that had a little bit of everything, including furniture and books.  Proceeds from this store go towards fighting HIV/AIDS and homelessness, so I felt good buying something here.  I bought a beautiful vintage fur muff for only $15.

We also visited an amazing perfume shop and I am still enjoying mine (Acqua Di Colonia) as well as several other shops.  One was up some stairs and very hidden from the street.  If it hadn’t been for ZTrend, I never would have had noticed it or had such an intimate shopping experience in SoHo.  I would definitely book another shopping tour with ZTrend and plan to have Sherry take me to the East Village the next time I visit New York, which I hope is soon.

Came to New York and met our tour guide at a cool little bar on the Upper East Side. She wanted us to specify our retro desires, making us cognizant of the refinements between thrift, funk, artsy, vintage, haute couture, etc. Having mapped the perfect tour for us in SoHo and NoLita, she brought us to places we never could have found or recognized on our own. ZTrend's greatest strength is the versatility and cheerful ease with which we passed through stores, stairwells, and parts of New York City unknown to most of the locals. Knowing so many of the shop owners and street artists made us feel like we were really in the know. It was icing on the cake when we sat for late lunch in a 1922 landmark tavern.

My husband and I visited NYC in November and in preparation for Christmas, I wanted to do some lite shopping.  But where to go??  I have Macy's and Bloomingdale's in my hometown - it seemed a shame to shop at the same old stores during my limited time in NY.  Enter Sherry!  I found Sherry on the internet, and signed up for her SoHo - NoLita tour.  What a find!!  As others have said, there was no pressure to buy anything.  She is adorable, knowledgeable, experienced and intuitive about our need for a break now and then.  We never could have found the adorable (some pretty well hidden) shops with a wide array of offerings without her help and guidance.  While she is quite willing to tailor the expedition to your interests, we were clueless.  Nonetheless, she managed to make our experience a delight and one of the most memorable days of our trip.  I highly recommend Sherry to anyone who is looking for a fun-filled day in a trendy (and otherwise intimidating) NY neighborhood.   You won't be sorry!
