There's no shortage of impressive dining options on the Lower East Side, but Luxee offers something special. The owner of the culinary department of the Vantan Creative School in Tokyo opened Luxee in August of 2008. Since opening, Luxee has gained a loyal following of those working the food industry, and it’s easy to see why. The cafe offers coffee and a wide selection of imported Japanese tea, served in beautiful glass tea pots to complement one of many five star desserts created by Executive Pastry *Chef Yoshie Shirakawa. *Chef Shirakawa's 18 years of experience are on display with every perfectly presented and artfully crafted plate.
Desserts are offered on a seasonal basis, with three to four plates debuting each season. Prior to releasing a new dessert collection, Luxee offers a tasting party where patrons can sample the upcoming offerings. At $20 a person spaces fill fast. Reservations are required, and can be made on the website. Each collection offers a vegan selection, while the other options are made with organic dairy and eggs. Most produce is also organic. In addition to the seasonal plates, several classic desserts are always available, such as souffle, sorbet, tiramisu, and ice cream. Cookies, brownies, and macaroons are also served. The full menu is available online at http://LuxeeNYC.Com.
Servings are well portioned, but you're covered if you can't commit to a full plate. Luxee offers petite versions of the current season's desserts to carry out, and the Summer Collection is available to-go year round.
If you're interested in flexing your own culinary muscles, Sign up for one of the many culinary classes designed around a variety of delicious topics. Spaces fill up fast, so check the website for the full class schedule and contact info.
*Chef Yoshie Shirakawa is a current instructor at Vantan Creative School’s culinary curriculum. It's no wonder why each five star dessert is so well designed.
