The joie de vivre so particular to the French is evident in each and every product sold at Zoomies, a fun, friendly and beautiful West Village pet boutique. All pets and their owners will be delighted by the bright, bold colors and the array of pet essentials on display at this haven for pooches and kitties alike. Susan and Angelique, the creators of this unique yet down-to-earth shop, use their previous Parisian lives in the restaurant and fashion worlds as inspiration for many of the store’s original items.
Whimsical and delicious homemade biscuits and treats (New York’s first Biscuit Bar for dogs) are made with organic, natural ingredients, come in playful shapes such as yellow taxis and the Eiffel Tower, and are displayed in beautiful glass jars reminiscent of old fashioned candy stores. Angelique’s culinary skills show up in every detail: the “icing” on these treats is cleverly made from yogurt. Susan, previously a Vice President at Christian Dior Couture, makes sure doggies leave the store in style. Her sporty, practical and still oh-so-adorable raincoats and outerwear are made of durable and waterproof polyurethane or nylon, and are fleece-lined for extra warmth on these cold, wet city streets. Grosgrain leashes and collars, reversible pet beds, and the store’s own line of natural-scented doggie shampoos and conditioners round out Zoomies’ treasure trove of pet lifestyle accessories.
There are even scented candles, fragrances, and pet-inspired stationery for humans to enjoy. One of the goals of Zoomies is to encourage people and their pets mix and mingle in the store, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere does just that. How could it get any better? The owners make sure that their unparalleled boutique creations are also affordable. C’est magnifique!
