This enchanting dress shop located on the fringe of the West Village's Meatpacking district offers a mix of vintage and contemporary fashion. Dresses range from casual cottons to slinky silky cocktail styles. Shop owner Ann Sherman finds it very important to support local designers, such as Raquelle, a Brooklyn based line that makes custom print designs for Darling. In addition, the shop sells their own private label including the signature “Marilyn” dress that had originally gained Darling recognition when it was displayed in the front window nine years ago. Since its opening they have also carried Sarah Cavendar metal work belts and tortoise shell earrings. On the main floor you’ll find Darling’s private label among other modern designers, and when traveling to the basement you’ll uncover their vintage collection. The atmosphere in this boutique is feminine and fun, especially on Thursday evenings during cocktail hour, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., where refreshments are served to patrons in Darling's charming backyard garden.
