SAKAYA (meaning "sake shop" in Japanese) is an East Village boutique offering over 120 different brands of premium sake from artisanal sake brewers located throughout Japan. SAKAYA fits right in on the trendy stretch of East Ninth Street between First and Second Avenues. Its understated design and stylish cedar shelving beckon the curious and the regular visitors alike. Inside, the store is small and intimate, offering a variety of sake of different grades, styles, and price points. There are a range of bottle sizes as well, including large 1.8 liter isshobin.
SAKAYA's gallery-like display features a balanced selection of sake (many exclusively) with something for every taste. The inventory is constantly rotated based on new discoveries, season, and popularity. Food pairing suggestions for both traditional Japanese as well as Western dishes are displayed for each bottle. Dessert sake such as umeshu, yuzushu, and sparkling are also available. Elegant Japanese sake serving sets are available to enjoy your purchase in style.
SAKAYA's owners are true sake aficionados. An unmatched curiosity and appreciation takes them regularly to Japan to visit breweries and study the brewing process hands on, learning how different sake are produced. They invite guest brewers from Japan and importers to host weekly sake tastings to showcase their sakes.
SAKAYA’s website www.sakayanyc.com offers a wealth of educational information on sake as well as its online store. Same day delivery is available (in NYC) as well as shipping to 30 states. Interested in learning more about the craft of sake?
SAKAYA's monthly sake club email is sent to members presenting theme based sake sets of 2 bottles, 4 bottles or 6 bottles. Custom corporate office, social gathering, networking, and private home sake tastings are also offered.
