Reviving the quality of the vintage jean with a modern fit is what makes Civilianaire stand out among the many jean companies today. Made in Los Ángeles with raw, unwashed, Japanese selvedge denim in four different distinct weights, they are not only soft in texture, but over time develop a beautiful patina to the denim. The denim's golden selvedge edge that can be seen on the inside of the garment reinforces seams down the outer leg and around the zippered fly, creating a superior jean that will be a part of your wardrobe for years. Pants are available in several fits and fabrics, including colorful "stretch" for women along with tailoring services to shorten the pants length without compromising construction. The shop also sells other well-made items, such as vintage quality manufactured Civilianaire jackets, 100% cotton, long sleeve shirts in many styles.

Going above and beyond, Civilianaire's knowledgeable staff reveal to customers the different fits, fabrics and denim weight choices, giving buyers an edge on how to select a pant that is right for them. The Civilianaire brand was created in 2010 by Gene Montesano and Barry Pearlman; no strangers to the vast world of denim. Montesano, co-founded Bongo jeans; more recently, he and Pearlman were the talented duo behind Lucky Brand Jeans, and are the current co-owners of The Jean Shop; specializing in custom made jeans.
Apart from the flattering fits and fabrics for men and women, what differentiates Civilianaire jeans from other jean companies is its virgin Japanese selvedge denim, woven on vintage Draper looms. "Selvedge" denim has a continuous uncut fabric edge created by the looming process. This results in a finished reinforced edge identifiable by the golden stripe inside the outer leg seams and fly seams. In the late 1970s, U.S. mills abandoned the slower shuttle looms for high-speed looms in order to compete with overseas production. As a result, many of these looms were acquired by other countries, such as Japan, who valued the quality and inherent beauty of the fabric that the Draper looms produced, over speed. Today, selvedge denim from these vintage looms is highly sought after for its superior weave.
Civilianaire Jeans, manufactured in Los Ángeles, CA, are available in 10, 11, 13.5 and 16 ounce denim weights that fade beautifully over time. Pants are available in a variety of fabrics and fits, including "slim stretch" for women in a selection of colors. The shop also sells slim fit chinos; an army green military style pant, along with a variety of long sleeve shirts, jackets and belts. Outstanding items include their beautiful lux men's leather, and women's sued western shirts. Civilianaire offers classic quality made clothing, produced with integrity to ensure a lasting future in your wardrobe.
