What happens when an artist channels her experienced background with photography and light installation fixtures and then combines it with an appreciation for nature and the beauty of "everyday" items? An inspired, original jewelry line, boasting more than 25 authentic, handcrafted rings, which emerges straight out of designer and creator Anne Arden McDonald's eclectic loft in Brooklyn.
This isn't just your average jewelry line. Every ring has both a history and a message, allowing each customer to unleash his or her inner uniqueness; a quirk which McDonald has certainly intended on. Her sterling silver-brazed ring that features a free-flying bird is not only a metaphor for freedom but also holds onto memories of McDonald's years at college, where she used the same stamp mold to enclose her most personal of letters. Another favorite of McDonald's features the houses she used to sketch with her eyes closed when she was evicted from her loft, representative of "tiny prayers for a home."
In addition to transferring her deepest feelings into her silver-and-gold mounted rings, McDonald also digs into nature to deliver her customers the gorgeous pieces, retailed at just $75 a pop. She incorporates bones, teeth, seahorses, ferns, branches, grapefruit and apple seeds into many of her darling pieces.
